Tesco Cregagh Road
Three Tesco stores are to shut across Northern Ireland risking up to 170 jobs.
Connswater Metro and the Cregagh Road store in east Belfast are to close, as well as a store on Church Street in Ballymena.
Earlier this month the supermarket giant said that it would be closing 43 stores across the UK that were unprofitable.
Plans to build two more stores in Carryduff and Armagh have been cancelled, it has also been confirmed.
The two Belfast stores will close on April 4 and the Ballymena store will close on March 14.
East Belfast Alliance MP, Naomi Long, said: "My primary concern is for those people who may lose their jobs if they are not redeployed to other Tesco stores. I have been assured the company will attempt to offer them alternative roles and I will remain in contact with Tesco to ensure this happens where possible.
"I am also seeking a meeting with Connswater Shopping Centre management to see about the impact on it."
Tesco chief executive Dave Lewis said: "Earlier this month I announced that our performance as a business has fallen significantly short of where we would want it to be and that to protect the future of the business in the UK we would close 43 unprofitable stores.
"It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that our stores in Church Street Ballymena, Connswater and Cregagh Road are included in the 43 we plan to close.
"The decision to close these stores has been exceptionally difficult to take."
He added: "I recognise it will affect many hard working colleagues, our customers and the communities in which these stores are situated.
"Our priority is to explain what this announcement means for our colleagues and wherever possible, offer them alternative roles with Tesco.
"I would like to thank all our customers who have shopped in our store. We will continue to do our best to serve them at our stores throughout Northern Ireland and our dot com service."
