One police officer had to be treated for injuries
The UDA has been blamed after a night of violent clashes in Larne.
Around 100 people gathered at Sallagh Park on Sunday evening in the town.
Many of the men were masked and believed to be members of the South East Antrim UDA.
A PSNI spokesperson said that when officers arrived on the scene they were immediately attacked.
A house in Knocdhu Park was damaged during the violence and a member of the public is recovering in hospital after being injured.
A police officer also needed treatment after being injured and a police vehicle was attacked.
Constable George Hamilton said: "This group of somewhere between 60 and 100 people, many of them masked, who we believe to be members of south-east Antrim UDA, decided that they would take the law into their own hands."
"There's obviously some tension and disputes that the group has with some individuals and households in the Larne area.
"They have absolutely no legitimacy to do any of this. They are acting outside of the law, it is simple criminality and we will be seeking to bring them to justice for this."
East Antrim DUP MP MLA Sammy Wilson said that the rampage was a "co-ordinated show of strength."
"I believe that this was in retaliation for police arrests over the last week and also settling scores in an attempt to stamp paramilitary authority on parts of the town," he said.
"This cannot be allowed to happen, Larne must not drift back to the days of the past and I know that there is no desire for this to happen apart from those who wish to be able to continue their criminality without challenge."
Sinn Fein East Antrim MLA Oliver McMullan said: "The south east Antrim UDA should get off the backs of the people of Larne and disband immediately.
"The police need to respond robustly to this and I'm calling for arrests of those involved."
