THE UK's City of Culture is getting all ready to be entertained. Four stellar gigs are taking place as part of the City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival which kicks off next weekend as part of the City of Culture celebrations.

Internationally renowned acts the Neil Cowley Trio, Pink Martini, The Puppini Sisters and Soul Rebels are performing over the course of the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

The Jazz festival has long been a highlight of Derry's social calendar attracting visitors from near and far but with the boost provided by City of Culture there are even more reasons to visit the annual jazz jamboree which runs from Thursday May 2 to Sunday May 5.

Soul Rebels, all the way from New Orleans, get things under way on Thursday at the Nerve Centre. On Saturday night it's time to glam up at the Grand Vintage Ball featuring the Puppini Sisters.

Put your dancing shoes on and throw some impressive shapes as the Venue in Ebrington gets a lavish makeover in homage to the city's cultural and social past, revisiting the music, styles, trends and fashions of the 1920s-1960s.

Headline act at the Ball is the globally renowned swing-pop trio, the Puppini Sisters, who celebrate the sounds and fashions of the 1930s- 40s in vintage style with vocal harmonies and synchronised moves. The City of Culture Musician in Residence, Neil Cowley, will take to the stage at the Nerve Centre with his band The Neil Cowley Trio, most famously known for his work on Adele's 21 Album.

You can make the most of the Bank Holiday weekend on Sunday Night when Pink Martini arrive at the Millennium Forum fresh from a sellout gig Royal Albert Hall.
