Fred McClenaghan, 52, from Broad Street, Magharafelt, has been sentenced to 16 years for the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
McClenaghan was convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend, Marion Millican, at the Portstewart laundrette where she worked in March 2011.
He had previously claimed that he'd tried to take his own life in front of her, but that the gun he was carrying, an antique shotgun, had gone off accidentally during a struggle, killing Marion.
