Brian O'Driscoll receives his honorary doctorate for services to sport.

Irish rugby legend Brian O'Driscoll has received an honorary degree from Queen's University Belfast to mark his contribution to sport.

The British and Irish Lions and Ireland captain, played 133 times for Ireland, and played for the Lions eight times.

He scored 46 tries for his country and once for the Lions.

At a ceremony on Wednesday, the legendary player, who plied his trade in club rugby with Leinster, was awarded the honorary doctorate.

O'Driscoll joins the ranks of singer Katie Melua and David Attenborough among others who have received the accolade.
