Northern Ireland winner of £13m Euromillions jackpot Mary Hamilton
The Belfast woman who won a £13m fortune on the Euromillions has been revealed as Mary Hamilton, 65, from Newtownabbey.
In total she won £12,935,936.30 in the November 7 Euromillions draw, but didn't realise she'd won until she visited the Shore road shop where she normally checks her numbers.
She and her husband Sandy, 67, who've been married for 40 years, both worked in Belfast furniture store Bannons.
Mary said: "Every week I call in to buy a couple of tickets and get my previous week's tickets checked while I make myself a cup of tea in-store.
"When I went with my tea to pay for everything I was told that they couldn't pay my money over the counter and I had to call the lottery number on the back of my ticket. The shop was quite busy and people quickly started to talk about me being a big winner.
"Someone even checked the numbers on his phone and within minutes, we knew that I had struck the jackpot so I was taken into the store to sit down, call my husband Sandy and try to come to terms with what had just happened."
When asked what she intends to do with her massive win, Mary said: "Spend it!"
The last big winner here was Tyrone woman Margaret Loughrey, who won £27 million.
