Eamonn Holmes with Maggie
TV host Eamonn Holmes has admitted he's got another woman in his life. The Sky and This Morning presenter says it was love at first sight when he first met Maggie, and luckily wife Ruth fell for the little stray too.
Eamonn has revealed that under his polished exterior he's a sucker for puppy love and he even came home to tell his shaggy dog story to UTV's Sarah Travers.
He's a patron of the Dog's Trust, which has a policy of never destroying unwanted animals. And he says Maggie could just be the start of a cute canine family.
"A couple of my friends who I work with in Sky News asked me to go along to an event at the Dog's Trust at Harefield which is just outside London and basically I fell in love with a girl there called Magdalene," says Eamonn.
"We ended up adopting Maggie. I do think our little Maggie has made me a better person and we probably won't stop with her. "Of every dog that comes into the Dogs Trust, none of them are put down or they are kept here." He admits he didn't even know he liked dogs until Maggie came along, but Eamonn has encouraged anyone who could rehome a stray pooch to pay a visit to the Trust at its base in Ballymena.
"I was never what I would call a natural with animals but I think that changes when you have one. "I always believe a dog chooses you and not the other way round," says Eamonn.
On tonight's Magazine show on UTV at 7.30pm Sarah also hangs out with Jenny Bristow in Cullybackey and trips the light fantastic with soccer legend Jackie Fullerton.
