Emma Zacharpoulou
BEAUTY Emma Zacharpoulou is babysitting tiny chicks this Easter which could have ended up on death row at a battery hen farm.
But the Miss Northern Ireland finalist is also a fashion designer who wants to strip stars down to their underwear and restyle them from head to toe.
Emma, 21, is in her final year of a fashion design degree at the University of Ulster in Belfast and her first advice would be to tell Jamie Dornan to ditch the dirty trainers and jumpers for a more sophisticated look.
“Currently I’m focusing on male fashion and I think Jamie’s current style is ok but I could tweak what he is wearing to make him look drop dead gorgeous,” says Emma.
“I would give him tailored clothing to give a preppy style but maintain a young influence. A more Mr Grey style appearance would suit him.”
Jamie Dornan is known to only wear a suit to award shows. The hunk can be found roaming the streets of his home town Holywood in ripped jeans, muck covered trainers and century old jumpers.
Jordanstown woman Emma is also no stranger to rubbing shoulders with hot hunky celebs as she has shared the same ski slopes in Switzerland with megastars Robbie Williams, Paris Hilton and even the Royal family.
“I saw Robbie Williams at a hotel a few years back in Switzerland and he was really, really drunk. He was falling all over the place. He was really loud and was surrounded by women but he seemed to be enjoying himself.
“My favourite celebrity I spotted in the St Moritz club was Prince Harry; he’s definitely the better looking Royal brother and he knows how to party.
“He was enjoying a good few après ski drinks shall we say. I didn’t dare go and ask for a photograph though, that’s not permitted in those types of places.”
Emma who has just recently been crowned Miss Ballymena in the Miss Northern Ireland contest is hoping her stylish wardrobe, classically trained voice and fluent Greek tongue will help her walk away with thousands of pounds worth of prizes next month.
“I’m from Northern Ireland but some of my family live in Santorini in Greece so I’m hoping to bring Greek influences to the Miss Northern Ireland stage.”
Over the Easter holidays Emma will be leaving her Belfast home to head back to her parents’ house in Jordanstown where she will babysit the family’s rescued battery hens and chickens while her parents visit relatives in Greece.
“I urge people when they are buying eggs in supermarkets to choose free range,” she says.
“I know people think they are more expensive but as consumers we have a responsibility to care about how the animals we eat and use for produce are treated.
“Battery hens are kept in horrible restricted conditions, stuck in a cage where they have to sit in their own faeces and continue to lay eggs.
“Our hens have become part of our family, they’re friendly creatures and they live among our dog and cat.”
When not tending to her hens or designing threads for the country’s hottest men Emma is a hostess in Box nightclub in Belfast and has served drinks to VIP celebrities such as One Direction, JLS, magician Troy and designer Henry Holland.
“When serving drinks to the boys in One Direction it’s kind of like don’t speak unless you’re spoken to. “They all said hello but Harry was acting crazy. He asked for a piece of toilet roll and then grabbed the roll off me and he was running around the club throwing toilet roll all over the place.”
“I’m not interested in boy bands or singers. The only celebrity I’ve ever asked for an autograph and picture with was Henry Holland the designer.
“He said he liked my outfit and for someone so influential in the fashion world to like what I was wearing just made my week.”
