Famed Belfast actor James Ellis
Famed Belfast actor James Ellis has died at the age of 82.
The actor, who became a household name in the 70s while appearing in the police drama Z-Cars, died of a stroke in Lincoln hospital early on Saturday.
Ellis also starred alongside a young Kenneth Branagh in the critically acclaimed Billy plays in the 80s.
The Methodist College educated actor began his career in the Belfast Theatre Group in 1952 before moving to England where he furthered his career.
As well as his roles in Billy and Z-Cars, Ellis also appeared in Dr Who, In Sickness and in Health and Ballykissangel.
He also appeared in cameo roles on Only Fools and Horses, The Bill, Birds of a Feather and Heartbeat.
